Indian Constitution | Law Officers | Day 49/51 🇮🇳

The Constitution, under Articles 76 and 78, provides for the appointment of the Attorney General of India and the Solicitor General, who serve as the principal law officers of the Union Government.

⚖️ Their primary responsibility is to provide legal advice to the government, guiding policies and actions to ensure conformity with the law. 🏛️ The Attorney General and Solicitor General have the right of audience in all courts in India, representing the government in legal proceedings to uphold the state's interests.

🤝 In addition to litigation, they play an advisory role, assisting government departments in drafting legal documents, contracts, and legislative proposals. The government may also appoint other law officers, such as Additional Solicitors General and Advocates General, to represent it in various courts.

🏛️ These constitutional provisions for law officers highlight the delicate balance between their duty to the government and their responsibility to uphold the rule of law, making them the guardians of justice in our nation.
