7-0 in Favor of Hamlet Gushyan
Boris Kaimakov and Vyacheslav Yachnikov report on an evening at the Union of Armenians of Russia dedicated to the 70th birthday of television journalist Hamlet Gushchyan. Hamlet is one of the most renowned masters of television broadcasting in Armenia. Beginning in sports journalism, where his main mentor was Nikolai Ozerov, renowned throughout the Soviet Union, he then hosted dozens of socio-political and charitable programs. His interview subjects included Silva Kaputikyan, Arno Babajanyan, Gevorg Emin, Tigran Petrosyan, Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, Mikael Tariverdiev, and such world cultural icons as William Saroyan, Charles Aznavour, and Rosie Armen. In 1994, Gushchyan became famous for organizing the visit to Armenia under siege of Mexican soap opera star Victoria Ruffo, known as "Simply Maria," and, through the city, the Pugacheva-Kirkorov couple. The evening included a presentation of the Russian-language edition of Hamlet Gushchyan's book "Right to the Air," translated by the author's daughter, Anna-Maria.
Currently, Hamlet Gushchyan is the face of the YouTube channel "BATS TV," where interviews with the most interesting interviewees from around the world on the most pressing topics are broadcast almost daily.
