Canon R5 1.3 Firmware Update 8K CinemaRAW Light C-Log 3 Video Test
Such a beautiful day today, because Canon just dropped out the 1.3 firmware update for the R5 and R6. So few months ago. Some rumors been saying canon will bring the Canon Log 3 and CinemaRAW light codec for the R5 in the firmware. At the beginning I wasn’t so sure because Canon Log 3 and CinemaRAW light are only available in cinema line. I was very surprised to see Canon bring it over to their Mirrorless cameras.
Even though I know when shooting RAW, there is nothing to do with Log. So doesn’t really matter Canon Log 1 or 3. But it does help little bit by exposing my shots. And also right now only FCP was able to read the file (With the Canon RAW Plugin) So you can’t really change the exposure. But 12 Bit colour is still there. When I have time, I will do any other video of just Canon Log 3.
So the firmware 1.3 not just about those new features. I realize it handles the heat a bit better too. During my test. There was no overheating icon popped out. Not even a 15min or 10min warning. So I guess Canon has improved the over heating issue too. That’s a good sign.
I’m glad Canon keeps updating the camera and give us what we have asked for. And hopefully the firmware 2.0 will bring us 8K 60p 😜 (Joking)
