Over the last 6 months I’ve been relearning to press after my neck injury. Here are some drills that helped me rebuild my press.
Learning to press is more about patterning than strength and also active shoulder stability.
It is important to understand the difference between leaned and stacked shoulders. The lean often happens as a result of lacking flexibility or strength specific to shoulders and hips. Or also a technical understanding issue. For me it was all three.
It’s common for someone’s first press to be rough and more like the leaned press. This why breaking it down and drill work is so important in and out of the handstand position.
