Why did so many boomers get radicalized — and did the internet really cause it?
In today’s episode, Ryan talks with Sam Seder about the long media pipeline that shaped boomer political identity: mass media, Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, 9/11 paranoia, Alex Jones, and finally the algorithmic feeds that turned decades of grievance into a permanent worldview. The point isn’t that Facebook suddenly “made people crazy.” It’s that a generation raised by television, talk radio, and political spectacle was already primed for the kind of personalized, partisan media ecosystem the internet eventually perfected. We’ll trace how that happened and discuss the origins of so much of today’s political and cultural chaos, which started long before social media.
