Adios Nonino It was composed in 1959, when Astor Piazzolla, who was on tour in Central America, received the news of the sudden death of his father, Don Vicente Piazzolla, familiarly called Nonino.
For the occasion he resumed a piece he had written in 1954 (of which there is an recording of the orchestra of José Basso, from 1962), preserving the rhythmic part but accentuating and prolonging the melody in a sort of lament.
This first recording was followed by numerous others, with different interpretations by the author (one of which contained in the Libertango album, recorded in Italy in 1974).
