How to Run AVI Files on Windows 10
You can download a codec from some known site, but it isn't safe to do it. It could contain adware, malware, and other unwanted programs in it. Dosbox is a free program, and it does not have any adwares or malwares on it. You can download Dosbox which is a Dos emulator, but it has a built in codec which will enable you to run avi files. Before you run the codec for Dosbox, you have to do a few things. If you can get it to run successfully, Windows Media Player will be able to play any avi files.

Instructions
1. Create the ZMBV.inf file.
a. Open notepad.
b. Copy and paste all the contents above into the notepad.
c. Save the files in notepad as all, and save it as ZMBV.inf .
2. Make the directory and subdirectory C:\Vista\inf . Put the ZMBV.inf file in the C:\Vista\inf directory.
3. Go to https://www.dosbox.com/download.php?m... and download Dosbox for Windows.
4. Go to start or the Windows icon located on the bottom left corner of the screen.
5. Look for D and located Dosbox.
6. Click on Install Movie Codec.
