Hey there! Are you curious about making your own animated talking character videos? You're in the right place! In this tutorial, I'll walk you through the entire process. It's simpler than you think!
Remember the talking robot cartoon I used when I started this channel? If you're new here, just scroll through my older videos to see it in action. Over time, I switched styles, but many of you asked about creating those talking robots. So, here's your answer!
We'll start with a script. Write your own, or get help from ChatGPT or Claude. Need a quick tutorial on ChatGPT? Don't worry; I've got you covered. Use this prompt to get a voiceover script:
"I need a voice over script for a youtube short. The video topic is “artificial intelligence”."
Once you have your script, it's time for the voiceover. You can record it or use text-to-speech. I'm using Eleven Labs for its amazing AI voices. Choose a voice that fits your style. I wanted "Michael" but ended up with "Bruce" — equally cool!
With your voiceover ready, let's animate! We'll use new.express.adobe.com. Select your character, and for a versatile background, go green screen with hex code 00b140. This makes editing easier later.
After setting your video size, upload your voiceover. Adobe will animate your character, syncing it perfectly with your audio. Then, download your creation.
Now, let's remove that green screen. DaVinci Resolve, a free editor, is perfect for this. Once you've imported your video, use the 'Delta Keyer' effect in the Fusion tab. Use the eyedropper tool to select the green, and poof! It's gone!
Editing is a breeze now. Play your video, and watch your character come to life, minus the green backdrop.
And there you have it! You've just made a talking robot video from scratch. You've got your script, voiceover, and editing know-how.
