Hornbeam is a passion project from bespoke cast iron radiator brand, Castrads. With over 20 years of experience working with cast iron, Hornbeam combines the specialist skills of our operations, manufacturing and product design teams. We're thrilled to be bringing cookware onto our production line and pouring our collective knowledge into a premium skillet.
Simple, solid, non-toxic
We cast our skillets in one solid piece, a huge plus for longevity because there's no loose screws or wobbly handles.
When you cook in cast iron, you can trust the non-stick coating because you put it there. Gradually adding layers of your favourite cooking oils, you'll always know your pan is safe and free from plastics or harmful chemical coatings.
Our castings are made entirely by renewable energy
Eurac, our partner foundry, offers incredible quality, casting expertise and a low-carbon facility powered entirely by renewable energy drawn from the English Channel.
Made in Britain by cast iron specialists
Hornbeam Skillets start out life as red-hot molten recycled metal, moulded in a state-of-the-art foundry in Poole, Dorset. Once cooled and solidified they are taken to be precision milled, tumble polished, pre-seasoned and packaged in our hometown of Stockport.
We know quality cast iron and we have world-leading manufacturers here on our doorstep. It makes no sense to make our skillets anywhere else, so we're fully committed to producing all Hornbeam cookware in the UK, always.
How to support us on Kickstarter
We're seeking help on Kickstarter to fund our first commercial production run of №10 and №12 skillets. Our target of £22,000 will pay for the first production run to be cast and matches what we've already spent on moulds.
When you pledge to buy though Kickstarter you can get your skillet at a fantastic early-bird price. You'll also have the chance to add on our limited-edition aprons and knife rolls, handmade in Cannock Chase by Journeyman Handcraft using Scottish-woven canvas.
