Automatically colour in Excel based on criteria/table headers
Stop manual highlighting in Excel, if you recolour on a cell by cell basis then it easily breaks and becomes more work to maintain later on, you are always highlighting for a reason so pick up that reason from the spreadsheet in two ways:
If you highlight for design reasons, do it on a table basis (not cell by cell), like a table in Word is done. Like in Word, click Insert then Table and get it working correctly. This feature has so many benefits, as well as colour formats.
If you highlight based on criteria use Conditional Formatting: Highlight based on text contains, value above/below, or dates before/after, or else use a heat map, data bars or icon sets (e.g. pass/fail), its super easy to do without any formulas.
