The Monk by the Sea
Caspar David Friedrich is known for his epic romantic paintings. His most famous artwork is, without a doubt, The Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog, where a man is watching over an epic landscape in a very dramatic and awe-inspiring manner. The Monk by the Sea is slightly different. It isn't as epic, yet it's still very awe-inspiring. It has a certain abstract feeling about it.
