Tabanan Regency is one of several regencies/cities in Bali Province. located in the southern part of Bali Island, Tabanan Regency has an area of 839.33 KM² consisting of mountainous and coastal areas. The boundaries of Tabanan Regency include: in the north it borders Buleleng Regency, which is bordered by a row of mountains such as Mount Batukaru (2,276 m), Mount Sanghyang (2,023 m), Mount Pohen (2,051 m), Mount Penggilingan (2,082 m), and Mount Beratan (2,020 m); in the east it borders Badung Regency, which is bordered by Tukad Yeh Sungi, Tukad Yeh Ukun and Tukad Yeh Penet. In the south it is bordered by the Indian Ocean, with a coastline of 37 km; in the west it borders Jembrana Regency which is bordered by Tukad Yeh Let. Tabanan Regency is one of 9 Regencies/Cities with an area of 839.33 km2 or 14.90% of the area of Bali province, and is located at an altitude of 2,276 m above sea level. As much as 23,358 Ha or 28.00% of the land area in Tabanan Regency is rice fields, so that Tabanan Regency is known as an agricultural area. As is commonly understood, the superior potential of Tabanan Regency is in the agricultural sector because most of the livelihoods, the mainstay of the regional economy, and the use of land in the Tabanan region are still dominated by agriculture in the broad sense. Tabanan Regency consists of 10 sub-districts (Tabanan District, Kediri District, Kerambitan District, Selemadeg District, West Selemadeg District, East Selemadeg District, Penebel District, Pupuan District, Marga District, and Baturiti District), administratively Tabanan Regency in 2006 had 123 civil service villages, 345 traditional villages, 784 civil service banjars and 365 subaks, with a population in 2006 of 410,162 people consisting of 203,394 male residents and 206,768 female residents. There are 25 objects and tourist attractions consisting of 17 natural tourist objects, 1 historical tourist object and 7 cultural tourist objects, and has 2 star-rated hotel accommodations with a capacity of 225 rooms, 28 budget hotels with a capacity of 381 rooms and 40 tourist cottages with a capacity of 244 rooms. The number of restaurants and eateries is 45 and 2 bars. Based on the potential and conditions of the Tabanan Regency community, the Macroeconomic assumption as the basis for policy in preparing the Budget is the level of economic growth of Tabanan Regency. The goal to be realized is the increasing growth of rural industries based on agriculture as a strategic media to spur the economy of rural communities (farmers) by increasing the added value of farmers through the post-harvest handling and processing industry which is expected to be able to improve community welfare.
