Ultimate Perfect Timing...
Timing your television recording to exactly match with the real life launch of the Voyager 2 spacecraft was certainly one of the most amazing background scenes ever.
This is from the BBC show “Connections, Episode 8: Eat, Drink and Be Merry”, which along with it’s follow up series, Connections 2, was well known for shots with interesting backgrounds.
I spoke with James Burke at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in the mid 90’s where he was giving a speech. He mentioned that this particular shot he practiced over and over with a stopwatch. Once he knew exactly how long the shot would take, they started filming when the launch countdown precisely matched. There was only one chance to get it perfect.
