Following a successful festival run, F. Javier Gutierrez's chilling film The Wait (La Espera) has found a home for its North American release with Film Movement.
The Wait has an award-winning pedigree. It premiered at Fantastic Fest and garnered accolades at festivals worldwide, including Sitges, Shanghai, Vancouver, and Oldenburg.
This Spanish folk horror centers around Eladio (Victor Clavijo), a groundskeeper on a powerful landowner's estate. A fateful decision involving a bribe dismantles Eladio's life, spiraling him into a vortex of guilt, hatred, and a thirst for revenge.
Clavijo delivers a haunting performance alongside a talented cast, including Ruth Diaz, Manuel Moron, and Pedro Casablanca (Strange Way of Life).
The film, which HorrorFuel.com's Joseph Perry called "gripping" in his review, is a collaborative effort between Gutierrez's Unfiled Films, Nostromo Pictures (known for Buried and "Penny Dreadful"), and Spal Films (known for Gutierrez's previous work, Before the Fall).
