Levator Scapulae:
Origin: on the transverse processes of 1-4 cervical vertebrae
Insertion: medial superior border of the scapula
Action: unilaterally elevates the scapula. Downwardly rotates the scapula. Laterally flex the neck. Rotates the head & neck to the same side.
Action: bilaterally extends the head & neck.
