ProRes RAW in DaVinci Resolve 20.2: Everything You Need to Know
Hell has officially frozen over—DaVinci Resolve 20.2 now supports ProRes RAW. In this video, I break down everything you need to know about working with ProRes RAW inside Resolve, from setup to workflow, color management, and what this means for filmmakers moving forward.
For years I’ve been a loud advocate for Blackmagic Design to add ProRes RAW support. I even collaborated with a developer to create a workaround converter into CinemaDNG just to get RAW into Resolve. Now that official support is finally here, I’m diving deep into how it works, why it matters, and how you can take full advantage of it.
ProRes RAW brings true RAW recording to more than 70 consumer and professional cameras, leveling the playing field for creators who want flexibility and dynamic range without investing in extremely expensive cinema rigs. With Resolve’s new support, we finally have a seamless post-production path that rivals Blackmagic RAW, REDCODE, and ARRIRAW.
