Here's is my double Rock Band 1 drum setup. I can't afford a real electronic drum kit yet, so I decided to make my own.
Two RB1 drum kits, running through a PC. Zero lag with this setup and it can support even more drum kits if desired. The drums are for the XBox 360. Because these are RB1 drum kits, there is no velocity sensitivity :( Rebound from hitting the pads is not much
Using Microsoft's gamepad driver.
JoytoKey to translate each drum pad to a keystroke
Reaper tracking software.
Using custom Reaper project file found in post #9 here. This makes it so the key presses translate to MIDI signals within Reaper:

Using EZ Drummer vst plugin within Reaper to simulate drum sounds.
Please see sk8er251cc's video if you need help installing everything. The only difference is that I'm running my drums through EZ Drummer instead of Drum Site.
If you don't know what Reaper is, I would suggest you get used to using Reaper. Especially if you like the game Rock Band. Reaper is going to be used to create custom songs for the Rock Band game soon. This is all part of the Rock Band Network. Starting 2010, you will be able to create your own songs and import them to the RB game. .................
