Truecaller Brings Back Call Recording With AI Transcription
Truecaller, the popular caller ID and spam blocking app, has brought back call recording with AI transcription for premium users on iOS and Android. The new feature uses Large Language Model (LLM) technology to record both sides of the call with clarity and generate summarized transcriptions that can be used to navigate.
You can easily manage recordings within Truecaller: listen, rename, share, or delete. All recordings are stored locally on your device for better privacy. Truecaller will allow iPhone users to keep a backup of all recordings in their iCloud storage, while Android users can choose to backup recordings to their Google Drive.
Truecaller is promising more enhancements to this feature soon, such as an AI-generated summary of the recording and a short call title.
To record on iPhone
To record an incoming call with Truecaller, answer the call, open the app, and go to the Search tab. Tap 'Record a call' and call the provided recording line. Merge the calls on the call screen.
For recording outgoing calls, open the app, go to the Search tab, and find 'Record a call.' Call the recording line and add a call from your contacts or manually. Merge the calls for recording. After the conference call ends, a push notification will notify you when the recording is ready in the Truecaller app.
To record on Android Devices
Android users can use the Truecaller dialer with a dedicated recording button to start or stop recording. Alternatively, if using other dialers like the built-in Phone app, a floating button is available for initiating or ending recording. After the call ends, a push notification notifies users when the recorded conversation is available.
