The Switch got firmware update 2.3.0 this week, but it doesn't seem to add any new features.
There was an ARMS Nintendo Direct this week, and while most of the info was about the game itself and it's mechanics, two big tidbits were revealed: the game will receive free content via updates after launch, and there's a demo happening much like Splatoon 2 called the Global Testpunch. You can see the times for the Testpunch on the screen now.
Nintendo confirmed eight new indie titles for the Switch this week in their Nyandies showcase; I'll list them off here. BackSlash from Skeleton Crew Studio, Cat Quest from The GentleBros, Levels+ from Flow, Lost Future Omega from Kusamochi Factory's Workshop, Nine Parchments from Frozenbyte, Owlboy from D-Pad, She Remembered Caterpillars from Jumpsuit Entertainment and Y2K A Postmodern RPG from Ackk Studios.
I talked about One Piece Unlimited World Red last week for Japan, and now it's been confirmed for the West. It's been dated for sometime in September. Europe gets a physical release, North America is digital only.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 has been unveiled for the Switch and almost every other console, with no guaranteed date outside of "this holiday". The game will have an original time travel plot and feature dozens of Marvel heroes and villans.
Inti Creates announced 2 Mighty Gunvolt projects for Switch this week. The first is Mighty Gunvolt Burst, a sequel releasing on the 15th of June worldwide. The game adds a new Burst system for comboing enemies one after another. The second is the Azure Striker Gunvolt Striker Pack compilation, which has both previous Gunvolt games, with the DLC integrated. It'll launch on the 31st of August worldwide.
Tiny Metal, a thoroughly inspired by Advance Wars strategy title, is coming to the Switch sometime in October. The game contains an 8 hour campaign and the usual set of strategy mechanics such as unit strengths and terrain management.
A new Harvest Moon title was announced for Switch this week: Light of Hope follows a shipwrecked man trying to save a town's failing lighthouse. More details will be unveiled around E3.
Astro Duel Deluxe, a a local multiplayer game from PC and mobile, is coming to the Switch on the 30th of May. It'll support up to 6 players with CPU opponents, multiple modes, powerups and arenas. It'll cost $14.99.
Splasher, a 2D arcade platformer recently released on Steam to positive reception, has been confirmed for the Switch. It's coming sometime in the fall.
Pygmy Studio have announced Lunaxxx, an action game about a boy and a robot that team up to save their world. Not many other details are available about the game just yet. including a date.
Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle, a one on one 3D fighting game previously confirmed for the PlayStation consoles, is also coming to the Switch. It'll be out on the 5th of September in North America and the 8th of September in Europe.
Hyper Feather Ball, a 2D multiplayer action title, is coming to the Switch sometime in the future from developer Springloaded. Not many other details are available just yet.
Slime-san, a platformer originally slated for Wii U, has made the jump to the Switch. The game apparently already runs on the Switch, so a release date may not be far out.
Party game Use Your Words, very recently released on the Wii U eShop, is also coming to the Switch sometime in the future. Not many other details are available about the release.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2's Switch port was detailed by Japanese magazine V Jump: it has Ad-Hoc play for up to six people, two player joy-con battles, joy-con ultimate attack motion controls, and early buyers will get all of the characters in the story mode and the first game's story mode as well. It's coming in the fall for Japan and North America.
And finally this week, two dates: Gonner is listed on the UK and AU eShop as releasing on the first of June, with the price being listed as 9 pounds or 13 Australian dollars. It's not known if the US version will be out the same week, but it's probably a fair guess to say so. And De Mambo will be out on the 29th of June in Japan; whether that date is global remains to be seen. That's it for this week.
Well, we went four weeks without a ridiculous amount of announcements. Heesh. I only have one Switch video in the pipeline and that's Battle Sports Mekuru. Outside of that, no promises: I'm not paying that much for Ultra Street Fighter II, although a Global Testpunch stream might happen if the schedule is clear.
