How to wire a reverse Telecaster control plate.

This wiring plan essentially flips the control plate in your Telecaster so the 3 way switch is on the right as opposed to the left. The volume and tone controls remain in the same positions from a guitarist's point of view.

I personally see this as a pointless mod (simply because I generally have my volume control on full) but this is a fairly popular mod for players who accidentally knock the volume control when flicking the selector switch. Lets be honest, the control layout on a classic Telecaster DOES leave the volume control vulnerable to be knocked as the blade switch is pretty close to it. There are other options available, namely a control plate that has the blade switch slot angled, or a control plate that has the volume & tone controls closer together, increasing the distance from the switch to the volume control.

Components used:

2 x 250k solid shaft CTS pots
1 x CRL 3 way spring action blade switch
1 x Switchcraft 1/4'' jack socket
1 x 0.047uF orange drop capacitor
Heat shrink rubber tubing
2ft push back cloth wire

Equipment used:

Hako soldering station
Lead free silver solder
