INSTAGRAM IS DOWN—AND USERS ARE NOT HAPPY.
Widespread technical issues hit the Meta-owned platform on Wednesday, with users around the world reporting problems accessing the app.
The main issue? Inability to send messages. For a platform built on communication, that's a pretty big problem.
The outage began in the early hours and continued to be reported globally throughout the day. At its peak, over 12,000 users reported issues on Downdetector, the online platform that tracks service outages.
Nearly three-quarters of all complaints came from Instagram app users, suggesting the problem was specific to mobile rather than desktop access.
