For those that think I am a total jerk for post like these, I want you to think about taxes. These post are not about the horrible situation that is creating the homelessness in our country. If I had no place to lay my head at night, it would be hard to beat the weather in California. The post is about whether you think that the state of California is doing what it is being paid to do. Your taxes are not just blindly given without expectation, they are a paycheck to the city and state. The Bible says pay unto Caesar what is due unto Caesar and pay unto God what is due unto God. If i give a tithe and find that the tithe is squandered and is not used in a manner as appropriate, I will find another Church to give my tithe. Same with taxes, you should have an expectation of cleanliness, safety, security, representation, and assistance for those in need. In Alaska, we have a homeless problem and we pay very little tax, so my expectation is not very high for cleanliness or assistance. But if I paid 30%-50% tax, I would have a very different expectation of my state. So, when I say you are crazy for living in California, I am saying that the Elected Leaders of California have completely failed you the Citizen. The Employer, the person who writes the paycheck, you have elected a CEO and a board that is giving you the middle finger and putting your money straight into their pocket. Other states manage to create solutions to help those in need with their taxes and with the help of nonprofits, but California has failed to do a fraction (with 5 times the money) of what most of the country has accomplished. So if that makes me a jerk, then I guess I am, I just have an expectation for the money the God provides for me to give to my state.
