VirtualBox: Fix Screen Resolution & auto resize window (multiple fixes - see description 1st!)
How to fix Virtual Box showing VM as a small window or wrong resolution randomly. Demo using a Ubuntu VM on Windows 10 OS. There is multiple possible fixes but these are the ones working for me. See notes and timeline for the working best fix.
Note:
The best fix ensures the option Auto-resize Guest Display is enabled when clicking the view tab of the virtual box vm(virtual machine) window.
One key note: After a fix, make sure to power off and on the VM and sign back in to check the fix has worked. Also keep trying to resize the window or make full screen on and off as sometimes the window resize doesn't work on the first go.

If you don't have guest additions installed follow the official docs - https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch0... https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E36500_01/... and install it to try get resizing to work.
If you updated Virtual box recently, guest additions should just need updating to fix the problem.
Working Methods (0:00):
Open VM, open terminal, and run the following commands:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install virtualbox-guest-dkms
Restart VM, and sign in! Auto resizing should be working.
Working Method 2 (1:52):
Go to displays, Manually Change resolution to your needs.
Method 2 (0:36):
Open Virtual box, increase the video memory to max green. Extra ensure VBoxGuestAdditions.iso file is loaded on the storage as this seems to be needed when resizing.
Method 3 (0:58):
Rerun GuestAdditions mounted disk. Auto run script.
Method 4 (1:52):
Go to displays, Manually Change resolution to your needs.
