Today was an exciting day for the van build! I headed over to Mule Vans to get what I truly believe is the best wheel and ladder carrier you can buy right now. This isn’t a sponsored review—it’s completely unbiased, and I’ll explain why I think this setup is the ultimate choice for any van.
I forgot to say in the video but its made of aluminium so won't rust. Winner.

The day started with a scenic drive through the snowy Peak District, which was absolutely stunning and a great reminder of why I’m building this van in the first place. Before heading to ‪@mulevans‬. I had to stop off in Barnsley to grab a sheet of ply and treated myself to a Starbucks. Then it was off to see Shaun and the team at Mule Vans—who are basically the Yorkshire Formula 1 pit crew when it comes to van upgrades.

The install went smoothly, but in true me fashion, I forgot to include the spare wheel during the fitting. So I had to finish that part back at home before I could reveal the final setup. It was dark by the time I got back, so I saved the big reveal for the morning. And wow, waking up to the sight of the snowy van with the new carrier and ladder was worth the wait!

The Mule vans carrier is more than just a spare wheel holder. It’s multifunctional, lightweight, and super sturdy. The integrated ladder makes it easy to access the roof—perfect for clearing snow off the solar panels or sorting out rooftop storage. It’s also fitted with L-track mounts, so I can customize it further if needed. I even added an Overland fuel kit for carrying extra diesel securely, which will be a lifesaver on remote trips.

I’m absolutely chuffed with how the van looks now. This carrier has added functionality, saved weight, and finished off the exterior upgrades beautifully. If you’re considering one, I can’t recommend it enough. Let me know in the comments if you’d fit something like this on your van, or if you’ve already got one—what do you think? Don’t forget to subscribe for more updates, and I’ll see you in the next one!
