Ivan Uglyansky - Who are systems programmers?
In today's world, a lot of effort is spent making programmers' work easier: languages are becoming more convenient and secure, compilers and runtimes are becoming more powerful and faster, and programmers need to interact directly with the operating system less and less.
But who's behind all this? Who speeds up compilers, who implements programming languages, who communicates with the operating system for us? All of this is done by programmers. Systems programmers.
In this talk, I'll explain what this profession is, how it differs from regular programming, and I'll also share a few amusing stories from the life of a systems programmer.
