SQL Server AlwaysOn is two a high-availability and Disaster-recovery solutions featured in SQL Server. It was originally introduced in SQL Server 2012 but it continues to grow in SQL Server 2014. Two solutions we have availability groups and failover clusters instances. So, availability groups give you high availability at the database level and failover cluster instances at the SQL Server instance level.
