The Rape of Nanking
By mid-November 1937 the Japanese had captured Shanghai and the next month started to march to Nanking, then-capital of the Republic of China.
The Japanese reached the city on the 10th of December and mounted their assault on the town’s walls from multiple directions.
They were able to take the Chinese capital after 3 days, occupying it while the rest of the army pursued the retreating Chinese soldiers.
The Japanese Army immediately engaged in random murder, wartime rape, looting, and other war crimes.
