Modeling things for 3d printing can be very satisfying. If you don't put the proper clearance, however, things will not fit together in the end, as 3d printing is not a perfect process. In this video, I show you some tips and tricks on how you can make your 3d prints actually fit together in the real world.
If you're looking for some good general-purpose advice on tolerances for 3d printed mechanical parts, here are the design rules that Voron design uses with great success:
-no overhangs over 45 degrees
-0.4mm chamfer on surfaces that touch the print bed (and no fillets on the build surface--breaks the 45 degree overhang rule)
-loose joints are generally oversized by 0.3-0.4mm diameter for a loose fit or 0.1mm for a press fit. 3.4mm for M3 hardware, 5.4mm for M5 hardware
-Countersunk holes "overhanging" the print surface should have a chamfer on them or another method like that to prevent issues
-Think about minimum perimeters/shells--try to avoid really thin features
