While running an ARCHIBUS training session I got a question on how can the exact location of equipment be viewed in a published drawing and then viewed within Web Central.
Well the answer to this question is that you can do this with a combination of Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD and then view the published drawing in the Equipment Asset plan in the Web Central asset portal.

The procedure to tag Equipment assets.

1. Open the drawing in the Smart Client extension for AutoCAD
2. The drawing the EQ assets are going to be inserted into but contain linked Room polylines
3. Set EQ as the current layer (you can use the set asset layer command)
4. Create the Block that's going to be used as the Equipment Block. (create the block on layer 0 but insert it in to the EQ layer)
5. Now insert the block on to the EQ layer
6. Repeat the process till all the blocks are inserted
7. Use The Attach to Record command to link the Equipment. Or you can use the numbering command to automatically insert the EQ ID in s numbered sequence
8. Now use the Infer command to make sure the inserted equipment report the correct location. You will be prompted to select containing asset i.e. the RM polylines.
9. Then the asset that's contained i.e EQ you can then select which fields will be inferred bl_id, fl_id, rm_id, dv_id, dp_id select return on this and your EQ assets should be updated.
10. Now publish the drawing to web central
11. Login to Web Central
12. Navigate to the Asset portal and select the Equipment Asset Plan
13. Browse to the Building code and floor plan used in this example.
14. Once selected you should see the floor plan shown with the equipment designated in the correct location with the schedules.
15. Using the Equipment asset portal you can view/edit the equipment within specific rooms.
