After moving up the lower divisions in quick fashion this past year, Takerufuji has beaten top Rikishi over and over again to win the Makuuchi (top division) Yusho. The stablemate of Yokozuna Terunofuji, Takerufuji beat many of the Yokozuna's rivals to get this Yusho, winning in dominant fashion most bouts and getting a 13-2 record. He also did this at the lowest rank in the top division, Maegashira 17.
