Chess Animation
Production Statement
This project was done using the animation program, Maya and the video editor program, Adobe After Effects. The piece is about a chess battle between two sides, the intimidating dark side, and the hopeful light side. The narrative of the project is the fear of one of the pawns on the light side, because the dark side appears to be a daunting presence. The pawn awakes from the battle to see his King conquering the dark side King. This project was completed, in attempt to fulfill this narrative of the fear of one of the chess pieces, and the bravery and strength of another chess piece. The successes of this project, in my personal opinion, were the camera angles and transitions I made in the animation. The sound worked out relatively well and the lighting wasn’t as bad as I expected to be. The troubling parts of this animation were animating some of the chess pieces in the way I desired. Also one scene gets basically cut out of the animation because it didn’t render a different camera angle. This project turned out to be presentable enough to showcase it.
