Complete 5pm newscast (delayed due to college basketball) from the NBC O&O in Chicago, recorded on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
Launching just a day before a highly anticipated Bears game, WMAQ moves from the same location it had been since 1989. It didn't move too far though, simply moving to the second floor of the fabled NBC Tower. A new newsroom and studio were part of the transition.
The music and graphics package remains unchanged. However they are using a new open. My guess is this is just an opening night only thing, but I could be wrong. A piece about the relocated station can be seen at 9:06.
