Getting "rich" at the start of the season is kind of a main activity: people try to find most sought after items as fast as possible and sell them as high as they can. Starting as a barbarian gives you enourmous advantage - all the high value items are for Sorcs and Paladins, so you can sell them very easily without hurting your own progress of gearing up. Main disadvantage is well...you are a Barbarian! It is arguably harder to get going with him.
