Salcombe Gin RS Summer Championship 2023
⛵ Last weekend's Salcombe Gin RS Summer Regatta at Hayling Island Sailing Club was a true celebration of the RS "noughty" classes! Six RS fleets, including the RS500 National Championships and the RS200 Masters Event, came together for three unforgettable days.
☀️ The weather couldn't have been better, with bright sunshine and perfect winds for intense racing in the bay. After exhilarating races, sailors gathered on the shore, treated to refreshing drinks from RS Sailing. The fun continued, enjoying HISC's fantastic facilities and gearing up for the lively Summer Ball. Sailing an RS means embracing both the competition and the social side, as everyone savoured a delicious meal and partied till the early hours.
Sunday greeted us with glorious sunshine, and a slightly later start provided a chance to recover from the previous night's festivities. The fleets set sail once again for thrilling races, battling it out for the fleet champions. With each race, the sea breeze intensified, culminating in exhilarating 18-knot winds for the last two races.
Overall, it was an incredible three-day racing event, blessed with abundant sunshine and varying wind strengths that tested every sailor. Huge thanks to the RS Class Association and HISC for organizing an outstanding event on and off the water, and a big congratulations to the winners of each fleet!
