The territory is known to specialists as “Izyumskaya Luka”. It was to become a national park long time ago, but foresters continue to burn and saw, or rather to finish sawing.

Unique natural area of more than 50,000 hectares in the vicinity of Izium (Kharkiv region, Ukraine) exists, but it does not have any protected status.
Within 30 years, scientists have been trying to make this unique forest in the steppe zone a national park, but all their efforts have been resisted by hunters and foresters, and their lawlessness in Izium forests. Hunters hunt all living creatures all year round, not knowing any restrictions and not feeling any state control. They have actually turned valuable natural complex into polygon for their pleasures.
Foresters mercilessly destroy forest by clear cuttings. For this they use all methods from arson to falsification of forest pathological investigation documents, which leads to clear sanitary cuttings of hundreds of hectares of unique forest. The width of firebreaks is up to 200 meters, there is no examples of such wide firebreaks in the world. Nevertheless, forest continues to burn because it is set n the fire by professionals - foresters.

Regional corrupted officials in order to improve statistics created in the unique territory a small reserve of the same name (5000 ha). It does not have administration and does not create any problems for neither hunting nor logging.
