Bethany Freeman: "Oh Peace" {{Piano Etude No.2}}
Here are my Program Notes:
There is a lot of minimalism through the recurring harmonies that are heard in throughout this piece and as a result of this, I have chosen to bring out the melodic themes that go on, through my voice & the viola. "Oh Peace" starts out in 'F#' Mixolydian Major which is outlined through the {{I}} & {{iii}} chords in the beginning. Later on, I define {{II}} as the tonic when I modulate to 'A' Mixolydian Major. There are no words to this piece. I wanted my voice to be used as another instrument in order to produce an atmospheric type of sound. The initial purpose of this piece is to remind us that God's peace passes & transcends all understanding. I hope that you are blown away by the tranquil sounds of my 2nd piano etude.
