Garmin Vivoactive 4 / Venu- How To Add Emergency Contact And Send SOS
In this video, I'll show you how you can configure the safety & tracking features on your Vivoactive 4 or Venu so that you can send an emergency sms text message of email to designated emergency contacts manually or via incident detection when doing outdoor run, bike or walk activities.
You will need to first setup emergency contacts in Garmin Connect on your smartphone by going to MORE | SAFETY & TRACKING | INCIDENT DETECTION & ASSISTANCE.
You can add a contact by either importing from your smartphone phone book or manually create one. You will need only first name, last name (optional), cell phone number or email (optional).
Contacts that you add only a cell phone will receive sms text message.
Contact that you add only an email will receive an email from Garmin links to livetrack where they can see your current location.
This feature will assume that you are doing your activity with your smartphone and be within cell range to send the data.
Once done, on your device you can hold BACK and navigate down to GEAR | SAFETY & TRACKING | INCIDENT DETECTION to turn on/off which activities to use it.
To manually send a request for assistance to your emergency contacts, PRESS the START button and HOLD for 5 seconds or until you see the EMERGENCY COUNTDOWN timer. You can cancel while it times down but otherwise your device will take the current GPS position and create an assistance activity, send a text to your contact and provide a link to your livetrack.
