How do you actually become a game developer? Well there are a few different pathways you can take. The paths to learning game development, generally are dictated by what level of game developer you want to be. You could be a AAA game developer, a AA game developer, or a true indie game developer.
In order to help answer what game development journey you might want to go down, I did a case study of CCP games, the game developers behind EVE online. Back in November of 2024, I had the pleasure of visiting Iceland with my company Stash. While we there, we me with several game developers including CCP games. They gave us a tour of the office, and it was so cool to see so many people passionate about game development. This made me ultimately do a deep dive into the history of CCP games and their game development journey.
