A Terran salvage crew is very excited about their most recent find: a large debris field floating in space, certainly worth an absolute fortune if they can haul it all back home. As they work to collect the ship wreckage, they experience frustrating technical failures... and then a massive alien spacecraft approaches them. Panic ensues, and in the confusion, the mysterious intruder fires a devastating energy beam at the Terran ship. It is destroyed outright, and everyone is killed. Who's behind this unprovoked attack, and what are their motivations?
