Forugh Farrokhzad (January 5, 1935 — February 13, 1967)
was an Iranian poet and film director. Forugh Farrokhzad is
arguably one of Iran's most influential female poets of the
twentieth century. She was a controversial modernist poet and
an iconoclast.Sweet Sounds is excited to announce the dawning of an
ambitious new project from the imagination of Shirin Majd,
combining contemporary music, visual arts, dance and
the dissident poetry of Iran’s great female poet Forough
Farrokhzad, in both Farsi and English.
Rebirth will explore the lives of Middle-Eastern women, their
aspirations, obstacles, restrictions and freedoms, through the
brand new compositions of the Three well known composers Mr
Mahyar Alizadeh and Mr. Vahid Zardey, and Mr. Basir Faghih
Nasir, as well three small pieces from our very own guitarist
Padraig Parkhurst.
Ms Farnaz Dadfar and
Mahkam Ghanbari will bring
the project to life using their
visual artistic expertise and
Mr. Shahrokh Moshkin ghalam,
a world famous actor/
dancer, will complete this with
his spectacular choreography
and dance. Sweet Sounds’
usual instrumentation will be
enriched by clarinet piano
and Iranian percussion,
exploring the deep emotional
connections between Eastern
and Western music.
