BMW R 1250 GS RALLYE
After a season on the KTM 1290, the author tried BMW’s 2019 R 1250 GS Rallye TE, a high-end model with advanced features like electronic suspension (ESA) and dynamic traction control (DTC). With stricter Euro 5 emissions standards approaching, BMW responded with a power boost from 123 to 136hp, though still trailing KTM’s 160hp. The power increase is achieved through a larger engine capacity (1254cc) and Shift Cam technology, optimizing performance across speeds. Other upgrades include a full-color TFT screen, LED lighting, hill start assist, and dynamic brake control. However, the added features make the bike 5kg heavier.
