… I struggle to pinpoint the when, but I can fully acknowledge that my parents had instilled in my sisters Lily and Victoria; that we always look out/take care of each other. Thus, I believe that it is natural for me to galvanize that same energy around the homies. Relationships don’t always materialize the way we hope, still I have always done my best in doing - regardless of the outcome - my ABSOLUTE best in treating others the way I’d like to be treated.
I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to getting into my feelings when it comes to whether or not I am recognized, whether in my hometown of Waterloo or in my new adopted home of Toronto - for my contributions to the CULTURE. Yet I gain strength in recognizing all those who have come before me that may have NEVER been given their flowers; my motivation in continuing on as a full-time Artist/DJ/Event & Music Producer = Entrepreneur is regardless of the MANY obstacles, that I stay motivated by being the change I’d like to see. All the things that I believe are “missing” become opportunities to capitalize on.
RAP SHEETS is all about shedding light on those who have been forgotten for their massive contributions. It’s TRULY about building a community that supports each other. So before I reach out to those who are perceived to be in my network, I literally look to those who have either thugged it out with me through the mud or are hustling in their respected fields. I look to the cats that I think are overlooked and deserve a shot. I try to bridge the gaps, reminding folks that they are not alone, and if possible we find a way to combine forces in the effort of getting closer to our goals. It may not ALWAYS pan out as intended, but I truly believe there is MORE than enough room at the table.
I cannot shoutout everyone who has contributed to what we have been building enough - especially in this climate that we are currently in. I am TRULY HUMBLED as I am simply doing my best to help where I can, by doing my best to look out.
TRUST ME, cause if you really know me you know that if I got it WE ALL DO.
