While the New Testament Gospels were received as Christian Scripture, these materials emerged out of ancient Jewish contexts. So how do these early traditions about Jesus and his followers sound in light of ancient Jewish texts?

This episode reconsiders Luke’s reports of Mary “pondering in her heart” realizations about Jesus’ identity and destiny in light of similar phrases in Aramaic dream-vision texts in the Dead Sea Scrolls, such as the Genesis Apocryphon and Aramaic Levi Document.
