If you’re struggling with how to make an image transparent on Macbook, don’t worry it’s very simple and takes less than two minutes to do. In this example I am converting a logo image to have a transparent background that I can overlay on other images or even videos.
1.) Save the image onto your mac.
2.) Open the image preview.
3.) Click on the “markup toolbar” emblem above the image in the preview box
4.) Now you will want to click on the “Instant Alpha” wand icon.
You can use this tool to make a photo background transparent, this part can get a little tricky depending on the level of detail in your photo. With logos, it tends to be less difficult since they do not have as much detail in them (normally).
5.) Hold down the mouse button (or press your finger down on the tracking pad for a Macbook) over the area you want to delete in the photo
Once that tool is selected I will hold down my mouse button (or press my finger down on the tracking pad for a Macbook) over the area I want to delete in the photo, while holding it down, run your cursor over the image towards the logo or part of the image you want to remain after the background is clear, as you do this, you will see red appear over the areas you will be deleting. Moving the cursor will adjust which parts of the image are going to be deleted. Once you release your mouse or finger off the tracking pad, you will see an outline appear over the parts selected that you want to delete.
While the lines are still showing over the image, you will want to either click edit at the very top of your screen, then select cut, or for a faster way, click the command key plus x, and that will cut out the background (command + x). After you do this, you should see the background portion of the image disappear, don’t worry if you mess up you can hit edit again, then click undo or the command key plus z to reverse what you just did to try again.

6.) Use the zoom in and zoom out tool to repeat the process over the spaces that are left in order to have a completely clear background on your image.

Once you have completed this process you will have a really nice image that can be layered onto other projects and images. For my logo, now I can add it to nice pictures to promote a business. I created the logo in the tutorial I mentioned in the article earlier.
I hope this tutorial helped you!
