In that land there was a very sickly monk,
he had been bedridden for a long time and was distressed;
because of the humors, his belly was so swollen
that he thought he might soon pass away.

The sick man was named Armentero,
no doctors could help him as they were too expensive;
a messenger brought him news of this holy man,
who could make him as healthy as he had been before.

The men who cared for him took the sick man,
for they were weary of his long suffering;
they brought him to the priest of whom they had heard so much,
for they believed his pain would end there.

The blessed man, full of sanctity,
when he saw in this man such a grave illness,
being merciful, took pity on him,
and prayed to God for him with all his heart.

Then the perfect Christian made the sign of the cross
over the swelling with his holy hand;
the sickness vanished from his body at once,
and the sick man returned home fully healed.

When Armentero was thus cured,
great was the commotion throughout the land;
all blessed God, the perfect Lord and King,
for giving them such a father of such great wisdom.
