If you are thinking of building a technology startup the barrier to entry is likely to be the cost of developing an application. In code this can run to tens of thousands of dollars.
One alternative is to seek a technical co-founder that can help you to build your application, but that's an even more expensive proposition. Giving up large chunks of equity early doors and forming a partnership with someone you hardly know is not a recipe for success.
