TAEKKYON KOREAN ANCESTRAL COMBAT ART
The earliest written documentation of Taekkyeon dates to the reign of King Jeongjo from 1776 to 1800. Before the occupation of Japan in the early 1900s, Taekkyeon was mentioned as a popular martial art seen at sporting events, particularly the Dano festival. A tournament called Gyeollyeon was held in the capital of the Joseon Dynasty.
