Indian Showcase: Flute Artiste Dr Jayaprada Ramamurthy, Pavitra Bhat & Margam Academy Dancers at AIM
To honour the 75th Anniversary of Indian Independence, the Australian Institute of Music hosted a performance featuring some of the region’s most talented musicians and dancers. Performers included: heralded Bharatanatyam dancer Pavitra Bhat and his dance troupe; Dr. Jayaprada Ramamurthy (the first female A-grade flute artiste of the Twin Telugu States) performing Carnatic classical music; and Margam Academy dancers performing Gujarati folk dance, providing a glimpse of one of the myriad of regional Indian dance styles.
