How To Add M42x1 5 Metric MALE threads to SolidWorks

If you need a thread that does not exist in SolidWorks you can edit the thread profiles that should live in the following path, with YOUR YEAR, in SolidWorks...
C:\ProgramData\SolidWorks\SOLIDWORKS 2018\thread profiles

Note: SolidWorks did not have this thread feature until 2017...
I am using SolidWorks 2018 in this example.

Please drop links to where thread profiles can be found for all metric and imperial sizes. I show an example in the Thumbnail of an M 42x1.5

Thread Formulas
For Dies:
Pitch = 1 / # per inch or mm
Profile_Land= P / 4
Profile_Height = 5H / 8 where H = 0.866025 x Pitch

For Taps:
Pitch = 1 / # per inch or mm
Profile_Land= P / 8
Profile_Height = 5H / 8 where H = 0.866025 x Pitch

Note the 0.866025 comes from H= Sqrt 3/2

Examples:
For M42x 2 Taps:
Pitch = 1 / # per inch or mm n= 2
Profile_Land= P / 8 =2/8 = 0.25
Profile_Height = 5H / 8 =
5*0.866025*2/8=1.0825
where H = 0.866025 x Pitch

For M42x 2 Dies:
Pitch = 1 / # per inch or mm n= 2
Profile_Land= P / 4 =2/4 = 0.50
Profile_Height = 5H / 8 =
5*0.866025*2/8=1.0825
where H = 0.866025 x Pitch

This can also be applied to Imperial threads as well...

If anyone sees an error let me know! I will correct it!
