You're logged into your business-critical FileMaker database viewing a number of records in list view. You've tried to scroll down to other records...nothing happens...you're waiting...try to scroll again...still nothing. Then, all of sudden the screen jumps well past the point where you wanted it to go. Sound familiar? This frustrating behavior is called "scroll lag."
Bobby Hritz will lead this month's Meetup discussion on layout optimization. Attention will be on improving the performance of busy and complex layouts. We'll discuss possible factors that can cause lag, some of the difficulties in quantifying lag, and common methods of reducing it that can be applied to your solution.
Bobby is a developer at Skeleton Key and has been building custom solutions in the FileMaker and Claris Platforms for 7+ years. He is FileMaker Certified since version 14 and enjoys utilizing FileMaker with other technologies. In his free time, he coaches Varsity Track & Field - focusing on jumps and hurdles, and (in his own words) is one of those weird individuals who actually run for fun.
